Induced by dexamethasone, DEXI is expressed in brain, liver, pancreas, placenta and lung, with highest levels in heart. DEXI is also up-regulated in emphysematous lung compared to normal lung. The gene encoding DEXI maps to human chromosome 16, which encodes over 900 genes and comprises nearly 3% of the human genome. The GAN gene is located on chromosome 16 and, with mutation, may lead to giant axonal neuropathy, 地塞米松诱导蛋白顿贰齿滨抗体a nervous system disorder characterized by increasing malfunction with growth.
